IWE/IWT SPECIALISATION 2026

International Welding Engineer (IWE), Technologist (IWT) and Specialist (IWS)

in accordance with current IIW GUIDELINES IAB-252 in IAB-195

The specialisation is carried out in accordance with the guidelines and authorisation of the International Institute for Welding (IIW) and is intended for anyone who encounters welding in their work and also wishes to deepen their knowledge in this field.

The specialisation is also an opportunity for welding coordinators to meet the standard requirements for qualification in companies wishing to obtain and maintain a quality assurance certificate for welding according to ISO 3834, ISO 14731, and EN 1090 standards.

The training will take place at a distance, with part of the lectures and practical exercises, which will be carried out in the welding shops and laboratories of the Welding Institute.

ACCESS CONDITIONS

IWE – International Welding Engineer

A recognised Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification (ISCED Level 6 or 7) in a STEM field is required. The education should include mathematics, physics, chemistry, electrotechnics and materials. If some of these subjects are missing, relevant professional experience in metalworking or welding may also be considered.

IWT – International Welding Technologist

A recognised upper-secondary technical/scientific education (minimum ISCED Level 3) is required. The education should be in Science, Technology or Mathematics and normally include mathematics, physics and chemistry. Candidates with a different educational background may also be eligible if they have sufficient relevant experience in metalworking or welding.

IWS – International Welding Specialist

Candidates should have an appropriate technical/vocational educational background and relevant professional experience. Depending on the type of previous education and experience, additional entry assessment or the IWS 0 examination may be required.

Final eligibility is confirmed by ANB Slovenia after review of the candidate’s educational certificates and, where applicable, professional experience.

DIPLOMA

With the successful completion of the course, candidates will receive International diplomas issued by the Slovenian Welding Society (SDVT) on behalf of the International Institute for Welding. Diplomas are in English language, valid worldwide, and equivalent to those issued in other countries.

Prices are valid for execution in the English language. The price includes all DL costs, materials, exams, and IWE/IWT certification.
