About the Course
Today, it is almost inconceivable that anything would be built or manufactured using welding without the important role of a welding coordinator (welding engineer, welding technologist, welding specialist). The tasks of these persons are defined in the EN 14731 standard and are the basis for quality in welding production according to EN ISO 3834 as well as for welding of steel structures according to EN 1090.
Welding is very common in metal beams, profiles, steel structures, working machines, furnaces, tanks, pressure vessels, elevators, cars, railway wagons, ships, airplanes, etc. Therefore, the role of welding engineers is irreplaceable.
In terms of the number of graduated welding coordinators, Slovenia is among the most successful countries per population. The Institute of Welding is constantly adapting to the needs and demands of the industry. That's why, following the example of foreign institutes, we started conducting remote specializations for international welding engineers and international welding technologists. In this way, engineers/technologists have less absence from work and learn from home when it is most convenient for them.
Lectures in the classroom represent 111 hours, exercises in the laboratory 35 hours, and the rest is distance learning. With this, the absence of welding coordinators from work was reduced by three times.

A New Way of Learning
Candidates have access to the complete material from home via computer, tablet or smartphone. The material is interactive and offers video content and quiz questions in addition to text and images. Candidates have at their disposal the help of tutors with study material, who respond by e-mail, phone or video conference. The technical staff offers assistance with technical questions and the administration with all other matters. Candidates also have the option of using chat rooms to exchange opinions and information.
